Department of Sculpture, National Taiwan University of Arts
The Department of Sculpture is the only department which focuses on the art of sculpture
in Taiwan. Since the 1960s, the department has had more than 900 graduates and become
a main character of sculpture today in Taiwan.
We impart to students the knowledge of sculptural culture and professional art through
academic research and study, making use of the qualities of Eastern art in the context of
western sculpture form. Our curriculum structure allows students to create their own field
of study through course selection rather than arbitrary division into study groups. Students
then proceed to refined modern sculpture workshops in "Sculpture", "Metalworking",
"Woodcarving", "Stone Carving", and "Mixed Media."
We invite teachers from around the world to make students realise the principle of art
creation in different eras, regions and historical backgrounds through the international
exchange.
