英文 "The birds and the bees" 中文意思隱喻講法之解釋與由來

"The birds and the bees" 在英文裡面表面上是「鳥兒和蜜蜂們」
實際上就是類似中文的「那件事」隱喻的講法，也就是「求愛與性愛行為」相關。

這種隱喻式的講法，如「蜜蜂授粉」、「鳥兒生蛋」等等，和人類的男性/女性之間的性行為可間接達成連結，
用來作為給孩子們兩性知識啟蒙的一種講法；透過自然界的動物、植物觀察到的現象，
這類大自然界的規律與現象，講解起來既方便解說，又不會太過直接尷尬，
所以又稱之為「The Birds and the Bees talk」。

"The birds and the bees talk" 可能的出處很多，舉例如下：

出處(1): 英國詩人塞繆爾·泰勒·柯勒律治(Samuel Coleridge)的詩

"All nature seems at work ...
The bees are stirring ...
birds are on the wing ...

and I the while, the sole unbusy thing,
not honey make,
nor pair,
nor build,
nor sing."

翻譯：
所有自然界規律，正在運作、蜜蜂在舞鳴、鳥類在飛翔...

出處(2): 湯瑪斯卡洛(Thomas Carew)的詩「春天」

然而，溫暖的太陽

讓凍僵的地球化了冰，使她溫柔可人，

讓昏昏欲睡的杜鵑和蜜蜂，成為啁啾吟唱的大合唱團。

出處(3): "Star Trek" TNG 第二季 "Amok Time"

Spock: "It has to do with Biology"

Kirk: "with What?"

Spock: "Biology."

Kirk: "What kind of biology?"

Spock: "Vulcan biology".

Kirk: "You mean the biology of Vulcans? Biology as in reproduction?"

Spock: (nod and speechless)

Kirk: "Well... There is no need to be, uh, embarrassed about it, Mr. Spock."

Kirk": It happens to the birds and the bees"

Spock: "The birds and the bees are not Vulcans, captain."

史巴克：「這和生物學有關...」

寇克艦長：「...啥有關？」

史巴克：「生物學」

寇克艦長：「瓦肯人生物學？」

史巴克：「生物學，和瓦肯人的生物學相關。」

寇克艦長：「你是說『瓦肯人的生物學』？和『繁衍』相關的生物學？」

史巴克：「...（低頭無言）」

寇克艦長：「好的，這種事情，嗯，無須感到尷尬阿，史巴克先生。」

寇克艦長：「鳥類和蜜蜂也會發生這類事情。」

史巴克：「艦長大人，鳥類和蜜蜂，他們不是瓦肯人。」
