Beauty and the Beast 成員介紹，本文多少會有少量劇透，預先提醒下。
B&B作為4代的Boss戰隊，可以想象為1代的Foxhound，2代的Deadcell，3代的Cobra Unit。每一作的boss戰隊都會有主題，本作的主題就是Drebin和Snake所講到的“War transforms us”，你可以看到MGS對于戰爭的思考以及戰爭對人性的扭曲。B&B的身世背景會在Boss戰結束后統一由Drebin在Codec中為Snake講述，無一例外。
下面就是每一個Boss的故事記敘。如果你英文夠好，請忽略作者的翻譯，原文總是更有味道的。如果你英文更好，歡迎PM我指點下翻譯的不好的地方，我非常期待。
Laughing Octopus
第一個登場的Boss，她阻住了要去追回Naomi的Snake的去路，她和Snake一樣可以通過迷彩來偽裝自己，甚至還會變成Mk.II來迷惑Snake。當你戰勝她之后，Drebin會講述下面的故事：
she's from a village in Scandinavia, little seaside hamlet known to all the locals as the devil's village.
她來自斯堪的納維亞的一個村莊，被當地人稱為惡魔聚居處的海邊小村子。
Place wasn't known for devils, though. It was known for octopus.
但是這地方並不是以惡魔聞名，而是因為章魚。
See, this was one of the few place in Europe where they ate octopus customarily.
你看，這是歐洲極少數以吃章魚為習俗的地方。
Anyway, there's this cult of crazies who for some reason hate the village, with a passion.
反正，當地的狂熱教徒們因為某種理由，盛怒的痛恨著這個村子。
Then, when she was just a teenager, things get bad.
接著，就在她還是個青少年的時候，局面惡化了。
These nutcases get their hands on some weapons and attack the village. Overnight, her sleepy little fishing town beomes a war zone.
這些瘋子們搞到一些武器並且攻擊了村子。一夜之間，她寂靜的小漁村變成了戰區。
They round up all the villagers and execute them one by one.
他們集中了村民，然后一個接一個的把他們處決。
Except for that girl.
除了那個女孩。
They had something else planned for her, something a whole lot worse than dying.
他們在她身上有著另外的打算，遠比死亡還要惡劣的打算。
Calling her the Devil's Child, they forced her do the kind of thing you'd except from one of Lucifer's own.
稱她為惡魔的孩子，他們強迫她做了只有魔鬼才想得出來的事情。
Afer they made her torture her family and friends, they made her kill'em.
在迫使她折磨了她自己的親人和朋友后，他們迫使她殺掉他們。
The whole time they were forcing her to laugh, howl like some sort of demon, like she was enjoying it.
整個過程里，他們都強迫她笑，如同魔鬼般的大笑，就如同她以此為樂一樣。
What was she gonna do, say no? They'd kill her, too.
她能夠做什麼呢，拒絕？他們也會把她殺了的。
So she let fear take control, and did exactly as they told her.
于是她讓恐懼支配了她，圓滿的執行了她所被要求的。
She butchered the bodies of the ones she loved, and laughed while she did it.
她屠宰了那些她所愛的人的肢體，伴隨著笑聲。
And as she bathed in their blood, it gradually turned from deep red to jet black.
當她沐浴在他們的鮮血中時，那些深紅逐漸地變成了烏黑。
To her, it looked like the ink of an octopus.
對她來說，那就像章魚的墨汁一樣。
The experience scarred her deep. Ever since then, she hasn't stopped laughing.
這體驗深深地在她心靈上留下了傷疤，從那時起，她就沒有停止過大笑。
Only, that ain't really laughter.
只是，那實際上根本不是笑聲了。
Raging Raven
在Eva和Snake轉移Big Boss的身體的時候，Raging Raven呼嘯而至，在一段和3代幾乎一樣的摩托追擊戰后，boss戰開始，Raging Raven很有點The Fury的感覺，超大的活動范圍，無規律可循的滑翔軌跡以及剛猛的火力構成了這場戰斗的要素，經過苦戰后，RR終于得到了解脫，Drebin則講述了下面的故事：

她多大了？
I'd say about 20. But she had years of soldiers' rage hidden away in that youthful body of hers.
我覺得有20左右，但是在她那年輕的身體里承載的是士兵們經年累月的憤怒。
(Soldiers?)
（士兵？）
The soldiers of Aceh, a place that hasn't seen peace in a long, long time.
Aceh（印度省份名）的士兵，那是一個長久以來都沒有和平的地方。
She was captured by one side or another, and kept caged up like an animal along with god knows how many other kids.
她被其中的一方捕獲，和數不清的孩子們一起如野獸般的被囚禁了起來。
(Anonymous violence.)
（匿名的暴力行為。）
Exactly.
一點兒不錯。
It's unknown whether her captors were with the government or the rebels.
我們並不知道到底是政府還是叛軍捕獲了她。
In any case, they got their kicks by abusing these helpless little kids day after day after day.
無論如何，日復一日的虐待這些無助的小孩子們給這些人帶來了極大的樂趣。
That constant barrage, that battlefield rage, slowly built up inside their bodies...their minds.
那種持續的阻力，那種戰場的憤怒，漸漸地在他們身體內……心靈上擴大。
The kids tried to keep each other's spirits up, always clinging to the hope that someone would come to their rescue, barely surviving off scraps of food.
孩子們努力的保持著每一個人的精神穩定，總是堅信著會有人來拯救他們，僅僅依靠著殘羹剩飯來生存。
But those soldiers didn't stop.
但是那些士兵們並沒有收手。
They called the kids parasites and shit-eating ravens. Beat'em even harder.
他們稱這些孩子是寄生虫和吃屎的烏鴉，更加猛烈的毆打他們。
Then one morning, the soldiers just up and left, leaving the surviving kids to be eaten alive by the birds.
之后一天早上，士兵們離開了，丟下還生存的孩子們去活生生的被鳥啄食。
Almost like one of those sky burials.
就如同是天葬一樣。
One by one, theirs bodies were picked apart by raven's peaks, until finally the flock came for her.
一個接著一個，他們的身體被烏鴉的喙啄成了散塊，直到最后鳥群來到了她面前。
But by some miracles, their peaks cut her bonds instead.
但是奇跡般的，它們的喙卻把她的鐐銬切斷了。
And like that, she was liberated.
就這樣，她被解放了。
In that instant, she was filled with an uncontrollable rage, and it smothered her soul.
在那一瞬間，她內心充滿了無法控制的狂怒，那狂怒扼殺了她的靈魂。
She ripped the ravens pecking at her to pieces and then went after the soldiers.
她把還在啄她的烏鴉撕成了碎片，然后去追那些士兵。
And when she finally caught up with them, she waited until nightfall like a hunter awaiting its prey.
當她最終趕上他們的時候，她就如同等待獵物的獵手一樣等到了夜幕降臨。
They say that when a raven cries, a man dies.
人們都說，烏鴉啼，人將死。
And that's exactly what happened that night.
而那一夜就是這樣的。
Screeching and carving, she killed every last living being in the camp, both the soldiers and the civilians they'd enslaved.
伴隨著尖叫聲和肉被切開的聲音，她屠絕了營地里的每一個活著的生物，包括士兵和被他們奴役的平民。
In her eyes, there was no longer a difference.
在她眼里，那已經不再有區別了。
The cruelty her friends had suffered, the pain and humiliation she'd endured...
她朋友所經歷的殘酷，她所忍受的痛苦和羞辱...
Hers was the distillation of the rage that decades of war had imparted on those soldiers.
她就是數十年戰爭所給與士兵的憤怒的結晶。
It was her strength---and her greatest weakness.
這是她的力量，也是她最大的弱點。
Crying Wolf
在影子摩西的冰天雪地中，又一只雪狼阻擋了Snake的去路，與九年前一樣，這次依然是一個女人...惡劣的能見度，十數名雜兵的干擾，嗅覺和活動都異常靈敏的Boss，這是一場無比嚴酷的戰斗。
最后Snake解脫了第三只野獸，狼如同九年前那時一樣，再一次帶著女人消失在了阿拉斯加的風雪里...而Drebin帶來了第三個故事：
You don't need me to tell you there's whole nation africa tearing themselves apart in the name of ethnic cleansing.
不用我說你也知道，有一個非洲國家以種族凈化的名義把它自己分裂開來。
（根據Crying Wolf的年齡和膚色以及MGS4的發生時間來推斷，這應該說的是第一，第二次剛果戰爭，但是在非洲打著種族凈化旗號的沖突實在是數不勝數，因此作者的想法不一定準確。）
Well, she was born into that environment.
總之，她就出生在那種環境里。
When she was a little girl, her village was attacked by rival armed factions.
在她還是個小女孩的時候，她的村子被敵對的武裝派別所攻擊。
Her parents and siblings was slaughtered, and she was left a refugee.
她的雙親和兄弟姐妹遭到屠殺，而她則成為了難民。
She took her last surviving relative, her baby brother, and ran as far as she could away from the war zone.
她帶著她唯一的幸存親屬，她年幼的弟弟，竭盡全力的逃離了戰區。
One day, they came across an enemy unit, so she took her brother and hid in an abandoned shack.
一天，他們遇到了一支敵人的部隊，所以她帶著她弟弟躲進了一個被遺棄的棚屋里。
And then, her brother started to crying...
接著，她弟弟開始哭了……
She knew that if the soldiers heard the noise, they would find them and kill them both.
她知道如果讓士兵們聽到，他們就會找到並且殺死他們。
So she wrapped her hand as tight as she could around his mouth.
所以她使盡全力的用手裹住了他的嘴。
As the foot step gradually went away, she came back to her senses.
隨著腳步聲逐漸遠去，她恢復了理智。
His brother wasn't crying anymore.
她弟弟已經不再哭了。
Horrified, she pulled her hand away, covered in sweat and spit.
帶著驚恐，她將手移開，那上面已經沾滿了汗水和口水。
He wasn't breathing.
他沒有呼吸了。
They say wolves eat their own pups when they die.
人們都說狼會吃掉自己已經死掉的狼崽。
She was spotted wandering through the thick of battle carring her dead brother in her arms.
她被人發現漫游在戰火最密集的地方，臂彎里抱有她死去的弟弟。
She had vision, too---a wolf walking alongside her.
她還有一種幻覺––一只狼並排著走在她旁邊。
Every night, the wolf would howl and cry, just like her brother did that day.
每一夜，狼都會嚎啕大哭，就像她弟弟那天一樣。
Eventually, she made it to a government-run refugee camp.
終于，她到達了一個政府設立的難民營。
But by then, her brother's body had rotted away.
但是那時，她弟弟的身體已經腐爛了。
The camp was crowded with refugees like herself, and little children like her brother.
營地里充滿了如同她一樣的難民，以及如同她弟弟一樣的幼童。
Day and night she was tormented by the cries of babies.
日日夜夜的，她都被嬰兒的哭聲所折磨著。
The wolf that followed her heard her sorrowful screams and answered.
那只跟隨她的狼聽到了她悲哀的叫聲並且作出了回應。
He made his way around the camp.
它在營地里來回周轉。
And one by one...
一個接著一個的……
He silenced the children.
它讓幼童安靜了下來。
She tried to stop it, but she was powerless to stop the wolf.
她嘗試去阻止它，但她是那麼的無力。
A few days passed,and on the eve of the enemy's raid, there wasn't a child left.
幾天后，在敵人突襲的前夕，孩子們已經一個都不剩了。
The adults who survived were torn up pretty bad.
那些還活著的成年人則被撕成了碎片。
Of course, there never was any wolf in that camp.
當然，營地里根本就沒有狼。
She was the one who killed those babies.
她才是殺死了那些嬰兒的人。
But she couldn't bring herself to admit it.
但她卻無法讓自己去正視這一點。
She couldn't bear the thought of herself going from one baby to the next, hollowing like a wolf, snuffing out their little lives.
她無法承受這種想法：一個嬰兒接著一個嬰兒的，如狼一般的嚎嗥著，掐滅他們幼小的生命之火。
And she never did, even as Crying Wolf, a lonely beast forever stalking the battlefield.
于是她從來也沒承認過，即使是成為了哀嚎雪狼，一只永遠都在戰場上獵食的寂寞野獸。
Screaming Mantis
在Outer Haven的中樞，那個有著“Second greatest boss”之稱的人的繼承者出現在了最后的道路上，毫無懸念的Meryl又成了被操縱的傀儡……一切都是那麼的熟悉，唯一的變化就是這一次是PS3了……于是……
Mantis came form South America, she was born and rised in a country wracked by never-ending civil wars.
螳螂來自南美，在一個被永不停止的內戰所破壞的國家里出生和成長。
Her village was attacked by enemy forces and burned to the ground.
她的村莊被敵人的部隊攻擊，並且燒成了白地。
This was when she was still a little girl.
這都發生在她還只是個小姑娘的時候。
Hunted by enemy death squads, she was separated from her family.
被敵人的行刑隊所追捕，她與她的家人失散了。
（death squad：行刑隊，拉丁美洲國家內右派組織,專事謀殺左派分子或是自由派分子）
She barely managed to escape with her life...Ended up in the basement of this one building.
她幾乎成功的逃脫了性命……卻在這座建築物的地下室里停住了。
It was full of corpses that had been dumped there.
這里充斥著被拋棄于此的屍體。
Almost all of them had been tortured to death.
幾乎全部都是被拷打致死的。
She was petrified with fear.
她被嚇得幾乎僵化了。
And then she heard the sound of heavy boots on the floor above her, followed by shrieking screams, the kind that would make every hair on your body stand straight up.
然后她聽到了厚重的靴子聲從樓上的房間傳來，接踵而至的是尖叫聲，那種能讓你毛骨悚然的尖叫聲。
She had stumbled across a makeshift torture chamber.
她偶然發現了一個臨時代用的拷問室。
Somebody had locked the door, and she was trapped.
有人把門鎖住了，而她則被困在了里面。
It was dark, it was dank. And it was full of a wretched stench.
黑暗，潮濕，又充滿了惡臭。
She couldn't sleep with the scream of torture victims all around her.
在被拷打的受害者的尖叫中，她無法入睡。
All she could do was sit curled up in one corner of the room, trembling.
而她能做的，就只是蜷縮在房間角落里，顫抖著。
A week passed, then ten days.
一個星期過去了，之后是十天。
She managed to keep hydrated by drinking filthy water pooled upon the floor, but there was no food.
她通過喝房間地板上淤積的臭水來保持身體水分，但是卻沒有食物。
Being trapped in that kind of place, half-crazy from hunger, did a serious number on her mind.
被困在那樣的地方，被飢餓折磨至半瘋，給她的精神帶來了嚴重的打擊。
Did you know female mantis eat their mates?
你是否知道雌螳螂會吃掉她們的伴侶？
The screams went on day and night, she covered her ears but it didn't help.
尖叫聲日夜不停，她嘗試捂住耳朵卻無濟于事。
And then, she was saved...
之后，她得救了……
By a little black mantis, that thaught her how to block out the screams, how to plug up her inner ears.
被一只小的黑螳螂，它教會了她如何阻擋尖叫聲，如何塞住她的內耳。
(What the hell are you talking about?)
（你究竟在說些什麼？）
I'm saying, Snake, that when she couldn't stand the hunger any longer, she started feeding on the corpses...
我是在說，Snake，當她無法在忍受飢餓的時候，她開始以屍體為食。
But only the male ones.
但是只吃男性的。
She didn't realize who was doing it.
她並沒有意識到是誰在這麼做。
In her mind, it was a female mantis, devouring her mates.
在她的意識中，是一只雌螳螂，正在吞咽她的配偶。
It was like one big, twisted walking dream.
就像一個巨大的，被扭曲了的白日夢。
There was no mantis, of course.
當然，其實是沒有螳螂的。
It was all a hallucination.
那都是一種幻覺。
Nothing more than some story spun by another person she'd created inside.
僅僅是她自己在腦海里虛構的另外一個人而已。
Her unstable mind was what made her so vulnerable.
她不穩定的意識致使她是如此的脆弱。
Later they ripped out what was left of her psyche with drugs and hypnosis, and implanted the persona of Psycho Mantis.
不久后他們用藥物和催眠抹去了她剩余的精神，並且植入了精神螳螂的人格。
It wasn't her will that controlled the BBs, it was Psycho Mantis, half-assimilated into her soul, pulling the strings.
並不是她的意願在控制著Beauty and the Beast，而是精神螳螂的，半同化進了她的靈魂，操縱著木偶線。
Screaming Mantis was just another puppet.
尖叫螳螂只不過是另外一個傀儡。
Anyway, she survied several weeks down in that hellhole and finally got back to the surface.
總之，她在那地獄里存活了數周，最終回到了地面上。
But the screams in her head didn't subside.
但那些在她腦海里的尖叫卻沒有平息下來。
They would always be with her...Only this time, they weren't real.
它們將會永遠伴隨著她……只是這一次，它們不是真的了。
The inner earplugs didn't work anymore. The black mantis had disappeared.
內耳塞不再管用了。黑螳螂消失了。
There was no place left to escape.
無處可逃。
Which is why she was always screaming---to drown out the ones in her own head.
這就是為什麼她總是在尖叫––要壓過那些在她自己腦海中的。
