如果靈魂具有重量，那麼在死去後，軀殼還剩下什麼？
曾經有個科學實驗，科學家將瀕死的人體放在磅秤上，在撒手人寰之際，瞬間減少了21 公克，自此21公克被稱作「靈魂的重量」。長期旅居柏林的王鼎曄，擅長以當代錄像、新媒體裝置闡述自己的創作論點，在藝術發展中，層出不窮的當代議題仍不脫對「人」的思考，而在談論到「人的精神性」這個問題時，王鼎曄巧妙選擇了一種提問式的創作載體訴說。這場「靈魂之輕」個展，觀眾將看到展覽中不包含任何被指稱為「人」的展品出現，反而將眼光流瀉於那一團團不斷被打摔揉捏的肉團與一堆在高解析度攝影機下橫陳的昆蟲軀體。
是否我們能辨識出那超脫肉體，足以被稱之為生命而永恆留下之物？本次展覽以靈魂的重量出發，透過種種軀殼思考靈肉間的存在關係，並以死亡為題切入人心進行美學式探索，藉由作品嘗試留下靈肉分離時那暫存的美好，透過王鼎曄獨特的美學觀點，將帶領觀眾優雅的面對死亡。

朱紅肉身對比蒼白靈魂，觀看王鼎曄的作品，如同穿透靈肉間的絕美交響，悲觀卻又美麗，讓人無法止住輕嘆。這場經典的德式浪漫主義將在2012年1月於也趣藝廊展開序曲，誠摯邀請您與我們一同細細品味！
Do you believe in Soul?
A scientific evidence once shows that we could measure the immortal human soul by recording a small loss of body weight. 21 grams, which representing the departure of the soul.
A longtime overseas resident of Berlin, Wang Ding-Yeh is a new media artist whose work in film, video and new medium-based projects explores the pleasures of narrative uncertainty. His solo exhibition "Lightness of the Soul" in Aki gallery portrays the artist's thoughts on the meaning of death, life, corpse and soul.

Throughout Wang's oeuvre, the connections between art, death, corpse and the supernatural are vividly revealed. The artist has tried to explain the passive dead body in a very positive way: Fleshes, animal horns, shells...etc. have been splendidly displayed as creative art forms. The video image aims to mirror the diversity in Wang’s works, and the way in which the work creates new meanings and subjectivities through its aesthetic approach. His works reflect that the true essence of a living creature is not only the material or the atoms he is made of, also the inner beauty of soul. By giving a new form to a dead creature, the artist can however regard the death in a gracefully elegant manner.
